=Pacificon 2012 A HUGE SUCCESS=

I would like to personally thank everyone that volunteered, coordinated,
attended, and executed this successful event! Countless hours went into
the planning and it really showed. I had a pleasure getting to meet with
many new faces and it was a pleasure getting to see the familiar ones
as well. I hope that everyone that was able to attend enjoyed the weekend
as much as I was able to. Here's to next year!

=Public Service Updates=

First, I want to take a moment to thank all those that have volunteered
their time and assistance during the ongoing recovery efforts on the East
Coast. To anyone that has suffered a loss from this "super storm" I wish
to offer my condolences.

During the past month we have had two events where amateur volunteers were
able to assist local emergency management agencies.

The "super storm" aka Hurricane Sandy that hit our eastern coast has
caused an unimaginable amount of damage. I know there are still many
without power or running water. The impact from this storm has reached
all of us in one way or another. There are still severe communications
disruptions throughout New York and New Jersey. I wish to thank all the
amateurs that have and are assisting with the recovery efforts.

Also in our Paficic Division, our Pacific section has just experienced a
Numerous hams provided valuable assistance to local EOCs prior to and
during this event. Thank you to all involved here as well.

As a reminder the ARRL Requests Hams Do Not Self-Deploy.

=ARES and RACES Info=

Emergency communications are key to the successful handling of any
disaster or emergency. As Amateur Operators, we can volunteer our
time and skills to assist. There are numerous online resources you can
utilize to learn more and study to become an ARES or RACES volunteer.
This past month has served as an important reminder for us on just how
important these volunteer organizations are.
