=Section Managers Update=

We are less than a week away from Pacificon and the final regional ARRL
Centennial convention. I look forward to seeing everyone that's able to
attend at this years conference. I have sent out a detailed agenda to the
SCV Field Organization, if anyone in the Field Org didn't get it please
contact me.

I am also excited to announce the appointment of Phil Steffora, K6TT as
our Affiliated Club Coordinator (ACC). Many remember Phil as he's held
several positions here in SCV over the years, including ASM and SM. I
am excited to have Phil here to take on the role!

Last, see you all at Pacificon!

= UPCOMING SECTION EVENTS =

=W1AW/6 Operations=

W1AW/6.
W6YX will be covering all contest bands during CQP signing as W1AW/6.

=PACIFICON 2014 - October 10 - 12=

A REGIONAL ARRL CENTENNIAL EVENT - Celebrating 100 Years of ARRL

This year's PACIFICON will take place October 10-12th at the Santa Clara
Marriott Hotel. The Mt. Diablo Amateur Radio Club is this year's host and
they are well underway in getting the preperations made.

Rohan Agrawal is 12 years old and will be presenting
"Smartphones with Ham Radio" at both Pacificon, 2014, and at
RCA Technology Symposium. Both SCCARC and SLVARC will be hosting
Rohan so that he can practice presenting his information before
live Ham audiences. Rohan is a very enterprising young man who has
devised the application that he describes in his presentation.
We applaud the development of our youth as experimenters and communicators
as they strive to bring new technology into use for the Amateur Radio
community's enjoyment.

=ARES and RACES Info=

Emergency communications are key to the successful handling of any
disaster or emergency. As Amateur Operators, we can volunteer our
time and skills to assist. There are numerous online resources you can
utilize to learn more and study to become an ARES or RACES volunteer.
This past month has served as an important reminder for us on just how
important these volunteer organizations are.

Our SCV section is looking for a qualified individual to volunteer
for the position of Section Emergency Coordinator. If you or someone
you know may be interested please feel free to reach out to myself.
