=Section Events=

Last month sure went by fast! Radiofest was a success and I enjoyed getting
meet all the new faces as well as see some familiar ones. There were several
individuals that got their Technician licences and a few that upgraded. I had
great time and look forward to next year.

This past week I have had the honor to be a guest at both the Foster City and
San Benito ARES club meeting. I enjoyed meeting all the individuals at these
meetings. I enjoyed seeing level of involvement in both of these groups with
their Public Service commitments.

I am also looking forward to getting to meet with everyone at the SVECS on the
24th of the month!

=New SCV Assistant Section Manager=

I wanted to take a minute to both introduce and thank James Armstrong, NV6W
his new commitment as an ASM. James has been assisting in the field
organization for the past several months as an Official Observer. I appreciate
James' commitment to the section and his passion to help. Please welcome James
to out field organization and I look forward to both of us being able to
visit our local organizations.

=Sea Otter Classic 2013=

San Benito County ARES is looking for ARES/ACS/RACES volunteers to assist
with communication support for the 23rd Sea Otter Classic. This is the
largest cycling event in North America with over 10,000 athletes and 50,000

organizer for these venues, Tim Takeuchi - W6TST takeuchi@sbcares.org

=ARES and RACES Info=

Emergency communications are key to the successful handling of any
disaster or emergency. As Amateur Operators, we can volunteer our
time and skills to assist. There are numerous online resources you can
utilize to learn more and study to become an ARES or RACES volunteer.
This past month has served as an important reminder for us on just how
important these volunteer organizations are.
